PDO sutures and Thread Lift Procedures

The initial treatment will give an immediate lifting effect and support your skin. As the thread takes a few months to re-absorb, it will also initiate some long-term results like collagen and elastin production, which is vital for a youthful skin.

Depending on the indication your doctor will use either or a combination of the following two types of threads:

Simple Threads (MONO-THREADS) are inserted superficially into the facial structures to stimulate the body’s natural healing processes to make collagen. These threads do not suspend tissue, but act as a scaffold.

Cogged threads (BARBED-THREADS) are made from the same PDO material, but have a number of small hooks along the threads. When these threads are placed into the skin, their hooks open up and allow for better traction on the skin to ensure a stronger hold and ‘lifting’ effect. Examples of threads used are from the Aptos® range and MINT®.

Silhouette Soft®: The suspension suture and cone technology repositions the skin and fat, particularly around the cheeks and jawline, to give definition and providing immediate effects.  Silhouette Soft suspension sutures are made from PLLA and PLGA (Poly L-Lactic Acid & Poly Lactic-co-Glycolic Acid), both utilised safely in medicine for decades.
